There are (or were, the little ones grew up and flew
away a few weeks ago) barn swallows in our barn - but
I wonder if they are eating the beneficial insects
along with/instead of the pests? I don't see them
looking on plants for aphids or bean beetles.
We once watched a scrub jay methodically take apart
a small paperwasp nest on the porch.
