I say if you have healthy dormant scionwood at hand, and the rootstocks are
expendable, graft ASAP. See what happens. I graft later in spring than
most people do, but I've never tried THIS late! (FYI, under ideal
conditions this May, it took my dormant scion up to 17 days to show growth.)

I am wondering what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of dormant
wood grafting vs. bud grafting in late summer. I am working with dwarf
trees, and want to change the entire tree over to a new variety. Any
thoughts on whether I should graft this summer or wait until next spring?
