Compared to the east-of-the-Cascades species I found at Sun Lakes State
Park, I'd rate rugosa a 5 or 6 to it's 10. I've tasted R. nutkana in the San
Juan Islands of WA and the Gulf Islands of BC that I'd rate 6 or 7.
Of course- I have found that rain can leach the flavor out pretty quickly,
so season and timing of harvest counts.
