Has anyone on the list grown an old peach
cultivar known as George IV ? I've ordered a couple trees of it for
coastal Maine, but have no idea how well it does up north. I'd very much
like to hear of anyone's experiences with this particular peach.
The grower from whom I'm getting my trees
describes it as follows:
GEORGE
IVNew York 1820 White
freestone peach with greenish white skin and a pinkish blush. Melting, juicy,
aromatic, richly flavored flesh. One of the three best white-fleshed peaches of
all time. Downing in his Fruit and Fruit Trees of America said "remarkably rich
luscious flavor..No garden should be without it."
Any/all feedback greatly
appreciated.
John
