We have a tree that is either yellow transparent or lodi. The couple who
planted the tree 20 years ago disagree about the tree type. Any way of
deciding which it is? Is there a significant difference between the two
types? (I believe that Lodi is a child of Yellow Transparent.)
Regardless, I have the worst time trying to pick it. It seems that the
fruit ripens over a long period of time and I have lots of drops and
have them going bad on the tree. Is the solution just to pick them when
many are still somewhat green?
By the way, the cornus mas discussion is interesting. I can't comment on
how well they do in my area (east-central IN 5b) because my two trees
are only 2-3 feet tall and probably won't be doing anything for quite
some time yet.
