While Ive seen his name bandied about I don't know much about him.
What were is main fruit & nut interests, did he do any breeding or release
any varieties..?
In my own experiences with Henry, his major forte was in the field of
pecans and hickories.
He'd spent decades roaming the countrysides of western KY, MO, IL & IN in
search of superior pecans & hickories. Lon, Cliff England and some of the
other long-time NAFEX and KNGA members can probably attest to the varieties
Henry brought to the fore better than I can, but I have at least two of his
pecan selections in my nut grove - R3T5(Ellen) and the 'Converse Major' bud
sport.
He wasn't limited to nut trees, though, as I know he also grew apples,
persimmons, mayhaws, grapes, and other fruits.
