My 2 cents worth on this subject.
>From the get-go, I've no problem whatsoever in dealing with the proverbial
fluffster. Always thought he was a thoughtful student of fruit growing and
was always willing to take the time to do an eloquent job in describing his
experiences, both good and not so good. And a few times has given us
wonderful humor which we all need more of I think.
The central problem which has plagued Pomona for many years is simply
finding folks willing to share experiences without the proverbial
pontificating on so-called "morality" influences (organic vs traditional,
for example, although at times various references to religions crept in).
Also, despite Jackie's tireless efforts to do otherwise, I suspect that we
all need to tap more professional folks about their experiences. This could
be retired Fruit Specialists, retired growers, whatever.
Again, just my 2cents worth.
I hope to meet and shoot the bull with a bunch of you at Durham.

My reply:
Thank you for the compliment, but all I did was add some filler to the words
of some men by far my superior. But I am glad you enjoyed it and
appreciate the "kudos".
As an aside, sometimes I suspect NAFEX will ultimately become just another
chat forum on the net, with POMONA a quaint romantic notion. Of course you
are all free to prove me wrong; I would enjoy being proven wrong about that.
