While in college (twenty something years ago) I went on a church
event. I sat next to a young lady who was pursuing a Master's in
Horticulture. She was surprised that I had any knowledge or interest
in growing plants. Her thesis was on rootstocks for stone fruit. She
thought very highly of Meteor cherry. I do not know if she ever
published her thesis. I have never stumbled across reference to it.
It would help, of course, if I could remember her name. Oh well.
Mining the dim, misty recesses of my memories: It may be that the
thing that impressed her was Meteor's willingness to root from softwood
cuttings. I cannot remember for sure.
