Subject: [NAFEX] Pear Rootstocks
Date: Thu, 21 Nov 2002 00:29:50 +0000
It seems that the OH X F series only occassionally dwarfs the scion cultivar and not significantly.
Still, compared to P. communis seedlings, they are said to be more resistant to FB.
So I have a couple questions:
Do the OH X F induce earlier bearing?
Are they worth the extra cost over standard rootstocks?
Aside from rootstocks from other . . . 'genera' (the plural of 'genus' escapes me) quince, and pyrodwarf, what pear rootstocks do you nafexers prefer for zones 5 or lower?
Thanks much
