Bruce, you are fortunate that they are not a great problem where you reside. Here in PA and in many other places they are a real problem, as Tom said they consume LARGE amounts of soybeans and other farm crops. Farmers have enough problems making a living on the farm without groundhogs. I live in a small town and can not shoot them here, I can not raise a garden at all, I go to the farm where I can get rid of the varments, just as I would any other pests. They sure are not on the endangered list in PA.
