I usually ripen brown turkey, celeste, alma, petit negri & especially hardy chicago of the
varieties I have in my portable fig orchard. Im maybe 150 miles north of you in southwestern
wisconsin. This time of the year they need the most southern spot you can give them & hopefully
they are pruned in such a way that sun & air can move thru the plant. Also Ive had luck once
frost comes (last week of sept to first week of oct) of picking all the fruit & laying them out
& ripening in the window. They dont have grade A flavor, but at least the green fruit doesnt go
to waste..
