couple of years ago, I saw an article about mixing cherry pulp into
ground beef. It was supposed to make it safer.
Check with Mich. State Univ., or, The Michigan Cherry Growers
Association, for some of their research or recommendations on adding
cherries to prevent toxins from forming in food products (including
meats, I think). I was following some links several months ago and
came across the information.
Concerning sugar and E-coli, honey contains a small quantity of H2O2,
or good old hydrogen peroxide which will kill bacteria. For a burn,
keep the wound covered with honey, it will prevent blistering and
scaring and aid healing.
Propolis, the plant pitch and gum the honey bees collect for sealing
the hive, also has a lot of antiseptic properties. It keeps molds and
fungi in check in the hive. An alcohol tincture will do wonders for
skin wounds. The people in the far East whom are reported to have
lived 100 to 125 years of age, are said to have include beehive
propolis in the diet.
So, go to your local orchardist who keeps a hive or 2, and buy some
honey or propolis, rather than the local sugar beet grower.
Paul S. now twix Baltimore and D. C., but at one time from the land
sweet and tart cherries and sugar beets.
