Chilling hours oin most gooseberries is about 1,000 hrs. I do not consider
Pixwell or Glendale as dessert quality, though both are good for pies or jam.
They should be used just a bit under-ripe. Crandalls will do well and the
fragrance is great. BTW, Glendale can grow into a very sizabel bush...6 to 8
feet tall and they tend to sucker a lot.
