Subject: [nafex] "Spincote" pots
Date: Fri, 12 Apr 2002 08:47:16 -0400
I'm getting ready to transplant some chestnut seedlings from peat
pots into larger containers. Someone told me of commercially-available pots
coated with a copper-based root-inhibiting compound. Apparently, the roots
grow until they contact the container wall and the growing tips dies on
contact. The result is a root ball without any "girdling". The coating is
called "spincote", I believe. I haven't been able to find a source for
these pots. Anyone know of one?
thanks,
gene
