We have two volunteer peaches at the in-laws. When you can by the bushel
there are lots of stones, and low and behold the squirrels did all the
planting.
The first is 5 years old, about 10-12' tall (last season) and gave it's
first fruit. Not sure of the fruit yet, as the few that set, it's first
year in fruit, were claimed by (you guessed it) the squirrels.
Who knew squirrels like peaches!
We have given the trees no special care and they have done quite nicely
on their own. We just protect them in winter from rabbits.
Later,
Tom
