It looks kind of like blackgum(aka sour gum, pepperidge, Allegheny
toothbrush), Nyssa sylvatica, to me.
Are the fruits a little blue drupe with a football-shaped stone inside?
If it is N.sylvatica, it's a GREAT landscape specimen. Glossy green summer
foliage, TREMENDOUS red fall color.
