Subject: [nafex] Osage Orange Fruit
Question: I have heard these can be used as an insect repellant. Is
this true? And if so, how are they used?

=================
Here in the piedmont of NC, they are harvested as they fall, and used as-is.
Just place each one on something to protect the finish beneath the fruit; a
small square of plastic wrap works for us. They can be placed anywhere
that insects are a problem; pantry, pet food storage area, greenhouse.
They are effective for about 3 months or so at 65'F and 50 % humidity. By
then they are darkened shriveled balls that get tossed on the compost pile.
