On Friday 3 riders trying to cross the raging Gila River in Buckeye
Arizona about 36 miles south of Phoeniz were swept away with their
horses. A 4th rider called 911. All three riders and one horse
were rescued successfully that day. A second horse broke its leg
and was euthanized. The third horse ended up trapped on a sandbar
in the river and was rescued from the sandbar on Tuesday.
