There is certainly ample opportunity for MSAR to provide transportation when
the circumstances are right. So yes, this is an area where MSAR can readily
expand and become known for more than "mounted searcher." The training isn't
all that complicated yet is very useful.
Part of the "is it viable to transport this person in the saddle?"
assessment includes determining whether the person is capable of
understanding and following instructions, which may be an issue in your
snake bite and heat stroke examples or even an injured ankle ... or may not.
A variety of factors influence the saddle / no saddle transport decision and
are specific to the current situation and the individual's condition ...
subject to change as you reassess.
