In horses, routine use of oral dewormers containing ivermectin is one
way to control ticks. Also, feeding Kochia scoparia (a dryland forage
aka common pasture weed). You can also get sulfur powder at a garden
supply store or pharmacy, and brush it into the horse's coat. All of
these are effective against ticks and mites.
