A wonderful book to read is "The Complete Training of Horse and Rider"
by Colonel Alois Podhajsky. During
WWII he managed to save the horses with the help of General
Patton. My Hungarian instructor who had been a Major
in the Calvary gave me this book...my deepest gratitude goes out to
him for teaching me the "art" of riding.
Circus (I think) was just a term meaning the horse was not trained
using the principals of Classical Dressage...it was 1972 and I was just
14....this is just a kid's memory and am sorry I ever mentioned
it. Dressage is just the french word for
training.
