The Stacy Peterson search in Will County Illinois is still going on.
One of the reporters writing a "color" story about participating in the
search wrote "I say searching for Stacy Peterson, but obviously, we
were looking for the body of Stacy Peterson." Well, no. Searchers are
to look for clues; a body is one major clue, but others are clothing
and other objects (jewelry, pocket contents), tracks and other signs,
and (sorry) small body parts and fluids. The story does a great job of
describing what a search looks like from the point of view of a totally
untrained volunteer, someone who has no idea how and why search tasks
are assigned as they are. It sounds like a reasonably well organized
search, making reasonably good use of spontaneous volunteers. Read the
color story here:
Searchers on horseback named in the stories (in no particular order):
Sharon Smith of Oswego and "Reese"
Tammy Bittner of Lee County and "Domingo"
Marni McClennan of Kendall County and "Mac"
Mary Sartori of Coal City and "Rowdy"
Cindy Broth
Janeen Henrichs
