I totally agree wih you Marie..lateral movement is taught in all disciplines
very early.Also turning on the fore and then rear.
My discipline being dressage cannot imagine one not being able to open,enter
and close a gate while on your mount.
In my opinion, out on the trail these movements can make for safer and more
courteous rides.
