ESAR is the backbone of SAR activities throughout the state.
Faye, I gather ESAR = explorer SAR?

Without the youth there would be little response to any search.
The annual Washington state SAR conference reflects this: circa
1000 people attending, including many families.

This includes finding deceased subjects.
By all accounts from those with first hand experience, finding
someone alive, then seeing them die, is far harder than finding
a dead body.
There is always the risk that you will see a fellow responder
die, eg. in a vehicle accident on the way to or from a mission.
In MSAR, there is also the risk that you will see a horse die.
Perhaps your own horse.
But all these risks exist regardless of any involvement in SAR.
