As a k-9 handler I have to keep those dreaded logs and would like to know
what your thoughts are on keeping MSAR training logs? What the focus should
be and is a log neccessary each time I ride or just team training?

This is a very timely question: the ASTM task group
now writing a minimum standard for training of MSAR
team members is considering what sort of training logs
to require. One thing is clear: each pair of rider
and mount should be evaluated together. A rider who
uses more than one mount should be evaluated separately
with each of those mounts. Precisely how to document
this is not clear. There are three broad approaches:
1. Training log for the rider, naming the mount used.
2. Training log for the mount, naming the rider.
3. Training log for each pair of rider and mount.
