The latter, IMO. There are still a LOT of people who believe Obama is
the Messiah, and they treat his Presidency with religious-like fervor. I
thought the latest video from the NJ school was an excellent example of
that. I think it becomes useful politically and the administration, by
ignoring the story, encourages further outrageous acts by those who are
on the fringe of being fanatical, whether it is a video from the Black
Panthers(have you seen those?), or a video from an obsessed teacher or
whatever.
A President or at least his administration has a responsibility to walk
a fine line to discourage such, but the flattery and adulation (ego)
often makes that impractical or difficult politically. I don't know
what the answer is.
