WOW - worst we got last week was -40F before windchill. (With windchill -63F).Maine. We don't have it that cold every year, either, in fact, I think that day was a record for the date, but it gets plenty cold enough to have to be careful from time to time. Most years we at least have a stretch of a couple weeks or so when it goes way below zero and stays there, even down to the midcoast area. It's really not so bad if the wind doesn't blow--that's the real kick in the tail. Southern Maine usually gets a free pass with temps 10-30 degrees warmer, but they have more heat in the summer, too, which they may have, with my thanks.
Where you from ?
I have seen -50F here, but not very often - only happens occasionally, perhaps once in 3-5 years. We get some -40F pretty much every year.
