When talking about music, there are similarities in almost ALL native and
indigenous music.?? When discussing influences and possible connections, it
is also important to remember that it is possible that the similarities are
coincidental. There are only so many ways to beat a hollow log, create drums,
and blow whistles. There were bound to be duplications that were widely
separated, having never had a connection.
The music of Australian Aborigines, for instance, is unique. Most
anthropoligist theorize complete separation, so they developed a unique
musical tradition. However, there are still similarities with indigenous
cultures from other areas...
Now, having that said, I do agree with the fact that influences were far
reaching, often measurable, and most likely connected.
