Choosing chickens is like picking fruit out of a barrel-everyone's taste
is different and will choose whatever appeals to them. White eggs or
Brown? Heavy Breeds or Bantums? Crested? Comb shape? Color? Winter
layers? Broody tendency?
All of those things go into the decision. I can't make his decision for
him, but I like the heavy breed birds. I can't think of a variety that
I did not like or have some affinity for. I don't particularly like
white chickens...they get dirty and look nasty in the rain, but to each
his own.
