What about regular peas? Don't know if you have to cook them or not but they
have decent protein?
I think we're going to get poultry early spring, just enough to have eggs
although I'm trying to become a tougher bird myself and would like to eat
our own meat. We used to have RIR and the black ones with white flecks, the
name escapes me now. We had a couple Araucana's as well.
I have a friend who has poultry for the first time and wants to eat their
own meat but doesn't want to butcher their hens themselves. She proposes
taking their birds to a farm up the road who will do it if they 'assist', so
we may begin that way.
