So maybe it's not that we humans are a warring species, but rather that
we're able to learn a 'skill', or coping methodology, that seems to
serve us well, whether peaceful or aggressive.
You can include a lot of other examples in your aggressive cultures...the
British forming an Empire, the US spreading democracy, etc. Even the
"convert or die" religions. I've always wondered why some cultures and
individuals see war and aggression as a positive thing, and others see it as
negative. We even see it in our neighborhoods. Some families encourage
violence toward any perceived slight, and others encourage 'turning the
other cheek'. Culture? Upbringing? Genetics? Arrogance (I'm right/you're
wrong, so I get to pummel you into submission)? Greed (wars of conquest)?
