I agree completely Lynn,
One of the big problems I have had with Bush is that he has spent money
like a liberal
and strayed so far from conservative principles that he is not a real
conservative. Frankly during
economic times we now face, a fiscal conservative would be our best answer
to getting things
under control. Unfortunately Bush has poisoned the well and left everyone
with the impression
that he is in fact a conservative in every way. Perhaps in the areas that
don't apply here but get
lots of press, like religion, abortion and stem cell research he is taking a
hard right line, but not
in the areas that matter to the bulk of the country.

Good post, Bob. I find the distinctions of 'right' and 'left' difficult to
see anymore. You can't tell a Republican from a Democrat without a
scorecard. There are 'right-wings' like Ron Paul, who want strict adherance
to the Consitution, and want government out of citizen's lives. Then there
are 'right-wings' like the far right religious nutjobs who think they should
be able to control people's lives, or 'right wingers' like Bush, with his
wars and Patriot Act and Homeland Security, that affect all of us badly. And
'left-wingers' like Obama, who seems to lean socialist and anti-war, or the
environmental lefties, or the Ralph Nader lefties. Whether I'm left or right
depends on the issue.
