That's neat. I've read that she was as good as he was bad (I'm not talking about politics). I've heard Doris Kearns Goodwin (I don't like or respect DKG as a historian , in gerneral--but what do I know-, but she did have unbeliebvable access to LBJ) talk about some of the crap he did that Lady Birdy had to put up with.
If you put those pics on your blog one day, let me know. By the way. You haven't had the link to your blog in your signature in some time. Have you been too busy to add to the blog? ....bobford

Yes, I did. She was a very fine lady, and I had the pleasure of spending time with her on many occasions. She believed the main reason you should plant wildflowers was joy. I liked that. She always came to our employee Christmas dinner party. She had a dibilitating stroke the last year I was there and it broke my heart she
couldn't sing the carols with us.
Sometimes she'd take my arm and I'd escort her
(along with several secret service) around the gardens. It was one of the perks of my job. Her macular degeneration was pretty bad by then, but she could still recognize the flowers. Amazingly, she could meet young people and know instantly to whom they were related. I've visited the ranch and
sat on her bed with her to talk. Her house had lots of interesting things but it was very lived in and comfortable in a homey way. She bought me pecan pie at a cafe once. I photographed her at botanical conferences. I have a great photo of her and I and my Dachshund (who also passed away last year) who was dressed as a docent.
