Moon, one book I loved as a kid and even now, is Thor Heyerdahl's
Kontiki.. I love survival stuff, and his book encouraged me in
anthropological reading as well as ocean exploration.
I might also suggest some kind of anthology of science fiction for children.
Anything written by Jules Verne is good to capture the imagination.
As the kids become teens, try Clark's Rendezvous with Rama series...I
love those.
There are so many good books-things for kids to read.
I'd say don't forget about non-fiction books. There are books about
past presidents, how things work, biographies, science experiments. etc.
Look for a biography on Jacques Cousteau or even Steve Fossett or
someone like Bill Gates or Oprah, whatever their interests are...
I was really into stuff like Volcanoes(still am) and Weather..so don't
just limit it to fiction.
