We have hair sheep here. Type is Kahtadin, developed presumably in
Maine near Mount Kahtadin.
These sheep are good for sheep dog working because they tire less
easily than wool sheep, and are rather more robust generally.
Apparently this robustness contributes to their being raised for
meat. They do develop a thick coat of hair in winter which sheds off
in a somewhat unruly manner in Spring. They look quite untidy for a
while. But you don't shear them to get wool. Apparently the coat is
not useful for spinning or much else.
