From my own observation and experience in this part of
the "Bible belt" Christian intolerance of others is not
dead. It lives across the street from me in a preacher
with an 8' x 8 ' sign that says "We welcome: Christians,
Pro-life, Pro-family, Pro-military, Most Republicans, (the
list goes on). The kindest, gentlest folks I know leading
lives in Christ's example have rejected organized religion
and the premise that a human (priest, pastor, preacher,
etc.) is necessary to interpret and intercede for them,
and have chosen to connect directly with their God. This
is the only 'growing up' I've seen.
