I don't know. I do know that there is a big difference in a government
providing social programs for a homogeneous populous like the Swiss , the
Swedes, etc., and even social programs in a heterogeneous populous such as
ours. I was paraphrasing a Nobel Prize winner, back when that prize was
truly significant. .
I live, in real life, amidst, to quote Swift, a confederacy of dunces. They
are highly educated and successful, as a rule.
Some might even describe me in polite terms. But, I see their lives in
terms of vacuous consumerism. As far as the people around me know, I'm just
another penguin in a large group of progressives. I don't talk, I just
listen.
On this list, I talk, as well as listen. And, I put myself out with my
honest opinions, and just like others, argue in favor of those opinions. Do
I really think that I'm going to change anyone's mind? No. But, I enjoy the
banter and the "fellowship" on the list.
If we all believed the same way, the list would be too boring to read

That will probably surprise the Scandinavians.
