Geez Louise, guys, just use Teflon's speeches which could easily have come
from the mouths of the origin [katheder socialismus] of the word (German
economists back in the late 1800s) "help [advanced state aid] for the
working class," or any history book on socialism "social reconstruction."
Or as my history prof called it "a new social order for the working class."
As with many things, we aren't talking about "true" socialism but rather
about "constructed" socialism. And the particular construct that the
politicians have been building is "cradle to grave" government control.
It begins before birth with the government insisting that having babies at
home is either "a" not good for you, "b" not safe for you or "c" a form of
child abuse.
Once they have the woman in the hospital, you have signed your rights away
and "they" have decided that your baby must have vacinations (which they are
fully aware don't work on a baby AND which they are fully aware have a good
chance of causing some type of neurological disorder).
The latest step is to pass laws that make home visits "available" (call that
mandatory because they don't inform these new mothers that they aren't
mandatory and they do the wink, nod with the implication if you don't
"accept their offer" that CPS will come knocking on your door).
Next is a *mandatory* set of vaccinations. TWENTY-SIX by the age of 18
months!
Then pre-school followed by more vaccines.
Next stop Head Start. That includes more home visits, just to help, doncha
know.
More vaccines because your next stop is public school where the government
has decided what should be taught, how it should be taught and just what
will or will not get in those books.
And it goes from there. Only your government knows what's good for you and
only your government can take care of you. Take a good long look at NOLA as
it is "the" prime example of well-trained sheople on the cradle to grave
train.
And now we have the ultimate phoney with pretty speeches and a "plan." The
problem is that "his" plan is not the plan that all those who sit in starry
eyed wonder and worship at the "image" of change are going to get! He is
the ultimate in talking out of both sides of his mouth. And I sit in wonder
to see just how well the brainwashing has taken. Scares the beejeebers out
of me but it is sure interesting from a strickly sociological point of view.

Gene; Obama's largest contributors, from specific entities, start with
Goldman Sachs, and then a litany of other investment banks and hedge funds.
He is more of the same that you seem to despise . How can a man as smart and
well read as you, call him a "revolution"?
The greedy corporate types to which you refer are Obama's biggest
contributors. If you want my definition of Socialism, I'll be glad to
acquiesce, but why? You know what's happening. You remember when we had more
freedoms, less restrictions, liberty to act and live our lives without
anyone checking to see if we were living to their standards.
You have a political crush on Obama, that's fine. But don't try to fool
yourself into thinking that he's going to slap down the big money boys. They
already own his soul. Pretend that he is John The Baptist, come to reveal
national salvation, and your heart will be broken. He is just another
'headpiece filled with straw'. ..........bobford

Since James cares not to define socialism, perhaps you will take a
shot at it. I can't figure out what it is anymore. As a country we
have essentially eliminated social welfare while raising corporate
welfare to high levels. Too many of the hypocritical D.C. Whorehouse
crowd say they detest socialism but they dole out gobs of it to their
rich friends who then give some of it back to the Whorehouse crowd. We
borrow trillions and then spend it on giant greedy and mismanaged
companies who privatize profits and socialize losses. The Iraq
Invasion was a gift to all the many Halliburtons of the party of
business.
