Subject: [Homestead] Doesn't matter (was Disappointed in Obama)

The careening you mention began long before the mere 7 1/2 years you
cited. And as far as ignorance goes, we were already lost to that
when the country re-elected a perjoring philanderer, who was later
impeached by the house of representatives. IMHO, the only thing we
can elect now is someone who will take us to hell in a handbasket.
One candidate will take us there faster than the other. That's the
only difference between the two.
As far as qualifications for president mentioned earlier, the founders
assumed (yes, I know what it really means) that the voters would
exercise GOOD judgement when voting. That's why there were only the
two requirements listed (age-35, and natural born citizen). The rest
was up to voters to decide who was most qualified.
I might not that at the time, the voters had qualifications besides
age, as well. I personally believe that our problems began when we
removed landownership requirements. But, that's just me...

It is true that the next president may have little affect on things, the
careening the country is currently doing will be very difficult to
control.
It is a situation made vastly more difficult by the administration of
the
last 7 1/2 years and will be made only worse by a continuation of those
policies.
If this country elects McCain I will be forced to admit that the general
level of ignorance has reached new highs. Either that or we have
become a
third world pretender complete with rigged elections.

I fail to see how getting oneself shot down and enduring prison
qualifies one for the presidency.
I fail to see how this is in anyway disrespectful. The McCain campaign
likes to say they don't want to talk about his POW experience but drag
it
out every time there is no real response to an argument.
One is constitutionally qualified for the presidency only by age and
citizenship. One should be qualified by education, experience, and
decision
making. So far McCain fails in at least two of the above if not the
third.
