Now, Gene, it isn't that my answer or James' is the only answer, it is the
inability of so many to do their homework even though they spent 12-13 years
hearing daily "do your homework." I am absolutely positive that there are
much greater minds out there that could, if they should so choose, come up
with some answers.
I think the one single thing that could be done to really shake it up and
knock folks out of their complacency and make them at least think about
thinking (o.k., so I'm pessimistic <g>), is to abolish the party system of
elections! If people didn't have "their" party to hang onto, they might
actually have to look at who they are going to elect!
The public doesn't think. If they actually did their research, looked at
everything and then made a decision, I wouldn't be so blooming negative
about our chances of every fixing the mess we're in. But they don't and
they won't and even if they do a little they have umpteen bazillion reasons
why it is o.k. that this, that or the other thing is wrong with "their"
candidate.
Hey, maybe that is part of the problem also. They have too much invested
in "THEIR" candidate instead of looking at it from the view point of what is
best for the country.
Like I have said at least a dozen times, I have no dog in this race. And
having done my homework, I've done an about face. I admit that I was
originally impressed with the pretty speach at the DNC. However, I can also
admit that I was WRONG!
Unfortunately, as history has so clearly shown, this country is doing a
repeat and the closest to what is happening is the sheople fiddling as Rome
burns!
Lynda, who finally was able to get some tomatoes in the ground cause the
frost is supposedly gone.

Yeah, we have some here who are pretty sure theirs is the only answer.
Likely a common view of serious homesteaders. Might be accurate, too.
