I think the difference is that yeah, other areas have these disasters,
true, but not as a yearly event like SoCA. Tornados probably equal
earthquakes in damage...Santa Ana winds probably equal hurricanes, but
tornados and hurricanes are low odds kind of events, whereas the winds
out there are a given due to terrain and season, and earthquakes are a
given due to geology. You could go 2 or 3 generations in say South
Texas without seeing a flood, tornado, blizzard, or hurricane in your
area, but could you go even one generation in Southern California
without earthquake or wind/fire/mudslide damage?
