Fire suppression is the strongest reason to oversize water pipe,
especially in the country, where the homeowner is largely the first
and only firefighter. That's one reason why I am putting in two more
hydrants near the house. Front, back and both sides covered. The size
of the hose and nozzle will then be the primary limitation. Friends
Ron & Sandra Bellinger were for years volunteers with their fire
department. I have sent them an e-mail asking for recommendations.
