up some of the downed wood in the forest behind my house, as it is full of
wildfire fuel presently.
Glad to hear your progress and successes-you know I love to hear goat
stories! I haven't posted in forever, so now you all know how to keep
Bev quiet...give her a paying job! I feel like I work 20 hours a day.
Anyway, about your wood and the wildfire potential. It's been so dry
this year that this is a job that you might consider putting higher on
the priority list. Today, there was a 100 acre forest fire(microscopic
compared to the ones burning in the South of the state) and the smoke
filled our valley and homestead as by air it was only a mile away on the
other side of the back ridge. The wind picked up and was blowing the
fire in our direction, so it was pretty scary and hair raising for a
while. People in Calhoun called us as the flames were visible 12 miles
away in town. They got it contained, but I am taking it as a wakeup
call. I've had several, but this time, I have the financial resources
to do something about cleaning up my 20 acre forest.
