I've grown a score of different kinds of peppers only feet from one another
for years and replanted the seeds. I've not had anything I could identify as
not being true to type.
So far, I haven't seen much of a difference either in the peppers, and I
plant Anaheims right next to Habs and Jalepenos, etc. Of course, it is
easy to tell the difference with the peppers I grow. Tomatoes are a
different story. I recall that in 2002 I planted Black Krim right next
to Cherokee purple and Brandywine. The Brandywines are a flatter
tomato, I think, but the Krim and the CP kinda look the same to me. I
wonder...
