Jimmy Carter asked for that to cut our dependence on imported oil.
He set an example by turning the heat down in the White House and
wearing sweaters. I don't think it made much difference.
I have a foggy memory of the White House being retrofitted for energy
efficiency. I think Rocky Mountain Institute was involved. Then I
heard the next president changed things. Anyone with a younger memory
bank recall?
