About 130 deaths each year from CO poisoning. 8% due to stoves. So that
would be about 10 deaths from your handy dandy kitchen appliance. This is
down from an average of 240 a year. "They" (who the heck are they anyway?)
attribute this to the use of the CO home detectors and more stringent laws
which forbid gas/propane companies from lighting any appliance that candles.
Auto exhaust deaths seem to have remained level at about 300-350 a year.
Maybe someone else can find electrocution deaths by stove but I couldn't
find any. I did find (NCHS/Consumer Product Safety Commission) lots of
small appliances and even some big ones (watch out for that air conditioner,
16 deaths; pumps/generators, 18 deaths; electric furnances/water heaters, 6
deaths, fridge/freezers, 3 deaths). However, the biggy for electricity is
household wiring which accounted for 53 deaths. Most of the electrocultion
deaths can be attributed to stupid people tricks like trying to do wiring
while the power isn't off or touching bare wires!

But your danger from carbon monoxide from a modern propane or natural gas
range is no greater than your danger of electrocution from an electric
one. In
either case you have to be prudent.
