Our current landlord will not allow a garden, so in addition to plantingPrior to owning our home, we rented a home in Charleston. It had a backyard that measured 35x55. The landlord also did not want a garden. When I explained that I had in mind two 4x8 raised beds (wood) that would be built at our expense and kept neat, she relented. We had been taking good care of her property, we paid on time and in general were great tenants. She often remarked how much she liked our raised beds. When we moved out, she was going to plant perennial flowers in the beds and leave some room for the next tenant to have a garden of their own. Most landlords don't want the whole backyard tilled, but if you desire a raised bed and the landlord is reasonably open minded, that might work. Good luck.
around trees and in the flower beds, this is a very strong possibility.
