tvoivozhd---you will have no problem at att---PVC has a design temperature limit of 140 degrees F.before it starts to deform under pressure.

I already got some good answers on this, and thanks, folks. At $1.67 for a 20' joint of pipe, I can afford to play around with some and ruin it with little consequence.

But, TVO, since PVC can deform under pressure at 140 degrees, what if I immersed the bits of pipe in boiling water and then form them over the cone?

tvoivozhd---should work---you wouldn't have internal pressure to help form the pipe---and 140 degrees is the rated temperature---really have to get up to 160 degrees before the deformation is really noticeable. At 212 degrees your pipe should be quite malleable.
