James:
I've been thinking, somewhat humorously, of the many times I've promoted
self-sufficiency only to have people become offended as well. It seems
that women, especially, immediately hear me saying that they need to be
making more cakes from scratch for their families, and sometimes really
blow a fuse. It really makes me want to bury the hatchet. You're one
of the few people who understands why helplessness is so deadly these days.
I'm sorry I called you a list loser. I know you're a very intelligent
guy, and that you're sacrificing a lot of what could be, in terms of
traditional pathways of success, in order to carry out this noble goal.
I've made the same deliberate choice.
I'm over my initial anger, but you should probably say that someone is
being a moron, or acting like a moron.
As far as the actual issue goes, I think it's divisive and anti-American
to hold inquisitions into whose health problems are "legitimate" and
whose are self-induced. How long before hang gliding enthusiasts are up
against the wall too? I think maybe you meant to say that IF people
want socialism, they're going to have to put up with fascism as a
necessary consequence.
OTOH, I could go on fighting with the Californicator forever. Isn't it
amazing how a few sociology courses and a spell checker can almost lead
to the impression of erudition? It's just like the speakers at London's
Hyde Park, who'll call you a lying nazi racist fascist freak the moment
they hear a different opinion from their own.
