> An employee of Chris's company in Texas is almost certainly the victim of
mad cow disease. I was not going to write about it because I don't care to be
an alarmist. This article opens the door. The employee became ill and
deteriorated so rapidly that it was scary for those who know her. Medical
tests have failed to diagnose the cause. Friends who have visited her say her
mind is going and she is wasting away. She is now dead or will die soon. Her
brother is a Texas cattle rancher.

Every time I clean the pickup or empty my pockets I find scraps of paper
with lists of things to get the next time I am in town. Sometimes those
scraps get forgotten and I still did not get the stuff.
Right now I am looking for a screw eye with machine threads. Time for a
hardware store run.
